SUSAN VARNO
Warwick Castle
Last October, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit England with a friend. I toured two medieval castles, two manor houses, an Edwardian house, and a Yeoman’s house. The dates of construction varied from 1068 to 1635. We entered ancient churches, a three-story folly, and two Oxford Colleges. We walked the streets of Cheltenham, the spa town where the London season continued each year. We visited Wales, Yorkshire, and toured the beautiful Cotswolds. I saw places I knew I would write about.
Historicals have always been my favorite genre. How did courageous women gain power in a male dominated world? In 2020, Debbie Gilbert at Soul Mate Publishing accepted my Regency novel A REBEL AND HER ROGUE. Since then, Soul Mate has published POSING AS A PRINCESS. My third novel LITTLE LOST LORD in The Shady Side of the Law series is available in Presale. Release date is April 19. All my novels are fun-filled adventures with enough danger to keep you reading, plenty of romance to satisfy, and conflict to keep you wondering.
After earning a degree from American University in Washington, D.C., I moved back home to Chicago. There I met my future husband Richard Varno. I was fascinated with his sense of adventure, his playful nature, and his friendly attitude. We have two sons. Staying home to raise these little darlings allowed me time to write and publish romantic short stories and personal experience humor. For 25 years, I wrote columns and reviews for Video Views Magazine, which was distributed through video stores. After Richard and I retired to Arkansas, I published over 500 articles in magazines and newspapers about the people, culture, and history of the Ozarks.
In 2017, Richard died. I miss him every day. I moved back to the Chicago Suburbs to be near one of my sons as well as Varno relatives and old friends.
